St. Barnabas
Choir
Music at St. Barnabas serves and supports our worship and is an
important part of our offering and outreach to our community.
music program mission
statement
In our worship, we make a conscious and active commitment to
include a wide variety of musical styles, while maintaining the
highest quality of musical performance possible in our offerings
to God. This means that within a single worship service you may
experience an African chant, a Bach chorale, a dulcimer solo,
organ and piano music, a jazz hymn, a gospel anthem, an Anglican
psalm or a rock ballad. All of this music is unified and
celebrated within the framework of the Episcopal liturgy,
centered on the Gospel texts, the theme of the day and the
liturgical season that follows the Christian year. We are
blessed at St. Barnabas Episcopal to have many fine musicians
representing a large variety of diverse backgrounds and
experience. All have opportunities to offer their musical
talents as fully as they desire. We welcome and encourage all
who wish to participate.
the adult choir
Music is a vital part of the worship experience at St. Barnabas
Episcopal Church. Surely there no sound on earth more pleasing
to God than that of an ordinary congregation singing its heart
out, and at St. Barnabas we are very active participants in
congregational song. The Choir of Saint Barnabas helps to lead
our congregational singing through their musical ministry,
whether it is a hymn, anthem or service music. From September
through mid-June, the choir performs challenging music of many
styles. Whether you are a singer or only hum in the shower,
there's a place for you in the Choir. Consider becoming a part
of a truly talented group of individuals who minister through
music each Sunday.
